Sweet Harvest: Honey from Our Bees

Our Irish black honey bees are another essential part of Derryherbert Farm. They thrive in the natural, pesticide-free environment we’ve cultivated, producing rich, golden honey that’s pure and full of flavour. Guests can purchase this fresh honey directly from the farm, offering a true taste of the land.

The bees are not only vital for honey production—they also help pollinate the crops, contributing to the farm's overall biodiversity and sustainability.

Organic Produce: From Our Farm to Your Table

At Derryherbert Farm, we pride ourselves on growing high-quality, organic produce. Our specialty is Latvian garlic, a variety passed down through generations that thrives in the rich soil of County Mayo. Known for its larger, sweeter bulbs, our garlic is a farm favourite and a key ingredient in many of our homemade goods.

In addition to garlic, we grow a variety of seasonal vegetables, including tomatoes, spinach, chilies, and cucumbers. Much of our fresh produce is supplied to local restaurants, ensuring that our farm supports the local community. Any surplus is transformed into delicious relishes, chutneys, and pickles, making the most of every harvest.

Meet Our Donkeys: Lilly and Priscilla

Adding a touch of charm to Derryherbert Farm are our two resident donkeys, Lilly and Priscilla. These gentle animals play an important role on the farm, helping to manage the grass and acting as natural fox deterrents during lambing season.

Lilly and Priscilla are much-loved by visitors, with Priscilla known for her affectionate nature and love of cuddles, while Lilly, though a bit shy at first, warms up to visitors over time. Spending time with them is a heartwarming part of the farm experience.
